FNAF Unblocked: How to Play FNAF for Free

Latest posts by Kara Phillips-Ashman (see all)

Even though Five Nights at Freddy’s is a popular franchise for a reason, you may still find yourself questioning whether or not you’d like it. Even though I’ve been a fan of the franchise since 2014, it still took me a while to pluck up the courage to play. So if you’re looking for a way to test the waters before diving into the deep end, this guide will help you out.

Five Nights at Freddy’s has become more accessible for anyone searching for that thrill as the years have passed. Rather than paying for a game you’re not sure you’ll enjoy, there are now several ways to access the game – either as a free trial or entirely for free – which may be more beneficial for any first-time player.

My first experience with Five Nights at Freddy’s was playing for free, crowded around a laptop with some friends when I was younger.

Without this experience, I wouldn’t have the same fond memories and adoration for the game as I do now. So even though you might be skeptical about playing for free, it certainly has its benefits. You never know, this could be your gateway into becoming a fully-fledged FNaF fanatic like the rest of us!

Where to Play Five Nights at Freddy’s for free on PC

The first Five Nights at Freddy’s title is the most accessible to play for free. If you’re already familiar with a site that hosts popular titles for free, there’s a high chance that Five Nights at Freddy’s has already been published on it.

But alongside the nine main titles, there is an overwhelming amount of fanmade remakes and spin-off titles you’ll have to sift through in order to find an authentic copy of the title.

For example, Scratch Studio is home to remakes, trailers, teasers, and fan-made spin-offs. Additionally, my first experience with the franchise was through a remake of the first game on Scratch, so I know firsthand that there are some quality renditions on there. However, there are hundreds of variations of FNaF titles to sift through, and I’ll admit some are better than others, but they may not provide the authentic FNaF experience you’re searching for.

But if you’re looking for more than one FNaF game, I’ve found a handful of reliable websites which host the franchise in a completely genuine way.

I love Five Nights at Freddy’s, but I’m yet to invest in the entire franchise. With nine mainline games, it’s an expensive game to adore. Not to mention just how much money you’ll spend on merchandise. So having a free alternative is essential for any FNaF lover.

GameJolt is always the first place I go to when it comes to playing Five Nights at Freddy’s for free. Although it’s predominantly home to fanmade games, there are several remakes of the original that anyone can access for free. Additionally, this website doesn’t have any advertisements to interrupt your gameplay, and it’s the only time I’d recommend downloading a game from a browser for free – given it’s from the following account.

@RealScawthon is Scott Cawthon’s official account, and he has published the following games for you to enjoy:

  • Security Breach: Fury’s Rage
  • Freddy in Space 2
  • Ultimate Custom Night
  • Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzaria Simulator
  • Sister Location MA (it’s important to note this isn’t the completed version of the game, so if you want the most authentic experience, you should look elsewhere or buy the finished version)
  • FNaF World

Outside of Scott Cawthon’s account, fans have remade the first Five Nights at Freddy’s title for players to enjoy; however, if you want to continue your adventure into the franchise, you may have to look elsewhere. Luckily, Kevin Games allows you to play the following Five Nights at Freddy’s games for free. The shortened FNaF title is what they are referred to as on the site:

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNaF)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (FNaF 2)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 (FNaF 3)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 (FNaF 4)
  • Five Night’s at Freddy’s: Sister Location (FNaF 5)

Additionally, Kevin Games has the first night and a half of Sister Location in case you didn’t want to jump into the whole story. Both Five Nights at Candy’s are available to play alongside several other FNaF spin-offs. But, if you want the most authentic experience with the franchise, the original games are the best place to begin.

Play Games is also home to several Five Nights at Freddy’s titles and is another alternative yet accessible way to enjoy the terrors the franchise has to offer. In addition, games 1-5 (five being Sister Location) are available for any curious gamer to pick up, and the site is home to many FNaF-themed spin-offs and different games.

When it comes to console gaming, finding a free, reliable equivalent seems almost impossible. I don’t want to suggest downloading anything, as I don’t trust it myself, and I don’t want you to sacrifice the health of your console for something you could pick up quickly on a laptop.

Both of the sites I’ve listed are consistently used by fans of the game, including myself, so I wouldn’t suggest anything outside of that. While I’m sure there are several ways you can download a FNaF game for free on console, I wouldn’t risk it myself, so I won’t advise you to.

The Downsides of Playing for Free

Playing a game for free comes with its pros and cons. Even though not having to pay for a game sounds like an immediate benefit, there are still some downsides. For example, when it comes to using one of the websites I listed earlier, you will undoubtedly encounter and have to sit through several adverts before you can begin your first night. Luckily, I’ve never had an advert appear mid-game – so it’s just the beginning where they are a concern.

Additionally, with the game being in a browser with no account linked, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to save your progress. This isn’t essential for the first title since it can be played in one sitting. But for a game like Sister Location, which is more story-heavy, you may need to return to it. Not having a saved game can be detrimental to any player looking to take FNaF at their own pace, so it’s something to consider while you’re playing for free.

Finally, another downside of playing for free is there’s no way to check if your copy of the game is authentic. With the sites I’ve provided, I know they have the most genuine copies of the games, but if you stray from those suggestions, you can’t verify how accurate it is.

This is especially difficult for new players who don’t know what to expect, so your experience could be completely different from someone else. I can assure you that the sites I’ve provided and their accompanying FNaF games are entirely accurate to the official game.

Console vs. PC

PC

I’ve always used a PC over a console when trying to find a suitable way to play FNaF games for free. Playing on a console usually involves some sort of file download. While this seems practical to anyone who doesn’t have a suitable gaming desktop, I still struggle to trust any free downloads of a title you would usually have to pay for. Using a browser version means you won’t have to download anything.

Even though sitting through a few adverts might seem inconvenient at the time, I’d prefer this option rather than infecting my console or laptop with a virus!

By playing on PC over a console, you’ll have access to a broader variety of browser-based titles rather than replaying the first game repeatedly. If you’re using the websites I’ve suggested, you’ll have access to almost every Five Nights at Freddy’s title, as well as eventually having access to fanmade spin-offs if you want to delve further into the franchise.

There are still a few FNaF titles that are not available for free, but with access to the first five installments, you’ve got enough content to sink your teeth into for now.

Additionally, I have always found that playing on PC provides more of an immersive experience. Having a control panel for a security office feels perfect for a mouse and keyboard experience. Plus, it’s much faster to move a mouse and click than thumbsticks and buttons when you need to protect yourself.

Also, as I said earlier, a free copy of Five Nights at Freddy’s for the console is incredibly difficult to come by. So you’re better off grabbing your laptop and settling for an intense and condensed gaming session.

Where to Buy Five Nights at Freddy’s

So now you’ve tested the waters – do you love Five Nights at Freddy’s enough to make the purchase? If you’ve loved your experience with the franchise for free, I’d always suggest buying the game afterward as you’re supporting the developer to continue making more content for you to enjoy. Additionally, you’ll be able to save your game this way and keep coming back to the franchise rather than having to start over. Not to mention the lack of ads and potential viruses.

If you’ve tried your hand at the PC version of Five Nights at Freddy’s, you may want to see what it’s like on the console. Luckily, a variety of Five Nights at Freddy’s games are available on Xbox One, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, so no matter your play style, there is a game for you.

The following Five Nights at Freddy’s games are available on XBOX:

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 1-4 (Bundle & separately)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location
  • Ultimate Custom Night
  • Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator
  • Five Night’s at Freddy’s: Help Wanted

The following Five Nights at Freddy’s games are available on PlayStation:

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 1-4 (Sold separately)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location
  • Curse of Dreadbear
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

The following Five Nights at Freddy’s games are available on Nintendo Switch:

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 3
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 4
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location
  • Ultimate Custom Night

But if you’d instead continue to play on PC, every Five Nights at Freddy’s game is available via Steam. Additionally, several bundles will make buying games cheaper than individually purchasing each title. Finally, Steam is home to several fan-made spin-offs should you find yourself bored of the mainline games after playing most of them for free, so the amount of content you can access feels pretty limitless.

FAQs

Question: Is Security Breach on Nintendo Switch?

Answer: There are currently no plans for Five Night’s at Freddy’s: Security Breach to be released on Nintendo Switch. As much as I love the game and adore the Switch, I don’t think the console would be able to handle the game.

Security Breach is an incredibly detailed game, which is paired with an incredible 70GB file size, so the Switch just doesn’t have the facilities to support it. However, many rumors have suggested that Security Breach will eventually receive a Switch port. So I look forward to seeing how the game feels should this ever go ahead.

Question: What is Ultimate Custom Night?

Answer: Ultimate Custom Night is a spinoff game created by Scott Cawthon in which the player gets to select animatronics to defend themselves against. There are fifty-nine animatronics to choose from and several premade game modes, which create some unique Five Nights at Freddy’s experiences.

You will be challenged to defend yourself in the same way as a classic point-and-click FNaF game, but you have more control over who is threatening you. This game is one of the few Scott Cawthon has released for free on GameJolt, alongside a demo in case you’re too scared to try the full version.

Question: Is Five Nights at Freddy’s multiplayer?

Answer: The main Five Nights at Freddy’s games are not multiplayer. However, there is a way you can experience the pizzeria alongside your friends. Five Nights at Freddy’s Multiplayer is another fanmade remake from Gamejolt, which lets you share the first title from the franchise with your friends. Because this isn’t an official release, there are quite a few bugs, but it’s still a super fun experience, given you’ve probably experienced the rest of the franchise on your own!

FNAF Unblocked: Summary

Hopefully, this guide will help you dive into the world of Fazbear and friends without having to spend any money. Until you’re sure of loving it, that is. As soon as I realized how much I loved my first experience with Five Nights at Freddy’s, I instantly bought it, and it’s been part of my library ever since.

Purchasing the game once you’ve tested the waters ensures that the future of Five Nights at Freddy’s is guaranteed, which is excellent for every fan. As much as I want to help you enjoy it for free, I want to emphasize the importance of supporting the developers.

But my number one advice when it comes to playing any game for free, Five Nights at Freddy’s or not, is you should NEVER download anything.

After being caught short when I was younger and without a sense of computer safety or virus protection, I refuse to download any file from a free game. Of course, if you’re enjoying the game and want to keep it without having to splash some cash, downloading seems like a great idea, but there’s no guarantee that what you’re downloading is legit. So it’s essential to be careful.
