Even though the idea of going back to school or back to work after a long break is intimidating, it doesn’t always have to be. Many elements to it are new and exciting, but my favorite way to prepare while giving myself a little pick-me-up is to treat myself to new stationary and supplies.

More specifically, buying a new bag was one of the most exciting parts of returning to school after the summer break.

I don’t know about you, but I always thought that your bag in school is pretty much what defines you as a person. It’s what you’re recognized for and the item you’ll take with you every day. So it has to be something you love. The same can be said for the world of work; nothing is stopping you from getting a fun bag to bring some character to your 9 to 5!

For Five Nights at Freddy’s fans, the limits seem endless regarding backpacks. There are hundreds of designs to choose from, which can be intimidating to anyone who doesn’t know what they are looking for.

But luckily for you, I’ve come up with a list of my absolute favorite designs, both practical for school and work, and a few fun favorites which deserved a spot. So whatever you love about the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, there’s probably a bag for it!

The Selection Criteria

When picking a new backpack, especially if you’re going for a character-themed one, there are a few criteria it needs to meet before you make a purchase. Firstly, take your budget into account.

The more expensive bag doesn’t always mean the best nor represents the most practical. If you take a Loungefly bag, for example – sure, it’s cute and high-quality, but they are mini-backpacks, so it’s not necessarily the most practical. This brings me to my next point.

It’s a given that you’ll need to consider the practicality of a backpack before you buy it. Ask yourself why you need a bag. If it’s for school or work, you need to find something that can fit everything you need. Textbooks, laptops, and binders need to be factored in – so the bag needs to have an appropriate size.

But alongside being able to fit these things, it also needs to be able to support their weight. The last thing you want on your commute to work is a bag strap to give way and throw your belongings over the sidewalk!

Alongside the practicality, it needs to be comfortable. Especially if you’re using it daily and carrying some heavy items. So looking for a bag with padded straps for extra comfort, or in-built back support, is another must. Even if this means you have to settle for a less extravagant bag. As long as you don’t feel achy after a day of walking around with a bag on your back, it doesn’t matter.

Finally, the design matters, of course! Finding something you like is integral to getting a good backpack, especially if it’s going to join you on your daily commute! When it comes to character-themed bags, the design must be true to what it is trying to represent.

Going hand in hand is the quality of the print on the fabric. It’s no use settling for a cheaper bag but having it arrive and be completely different from what you expected. Make sure you’re reading reviews of the product before purchase to make sure it suits your every need.

My Top Picks at a Glance

There are hundreds of Five Nights at Freddy’s themed backpacks to choose from, so I find it hard to believe that you won’t find something you like. Featuring designs from every game, era, and character in the franchise – there is bound to be something for everyone!

But if you’re still stuck on which backpacks are worth your time and attention, here are my top three designs, which I will discuss in more detail later.

Firstly, the pixel icons and pizza backpack takes the top spot. I adore everything about this design, from the pixel pizza to the silicone logo on the front pocket. If you need a school or work-appropriate bag but want something with that Fazbear flare, this is the bag I would recommend immediately. Its design is small and subtle, and for the price of $26.50, it’s incredibly budget-friendly.

Secondly, I adore the plush Foxy backpack. Although it may not be as practical, you can’t deny it’s adorable. I’ve been a plush backpack fanatic for years, and because of how accurate this bag is to the in-game Foxy plushies, I am obsessed. It would be the perfect addition to any cosplay, or even just to take for a day out – given you only need your keys and phone since that’s all it will fit. For $20, this plush backpack is a beautiful addition to any Foxy-lovers collection.

My final top pick for the best FNaF backpack would have to be the Security Breach Arcade Carpet backpack from RedBubble. I think this design deserves a top-pick place because of its subtlety. I’m a sucker for a subtle design because it’ll be a great conversation starter for anyone who does recognize where it’s from.

I would never have thought of the Arcade Carpet being a good design for a bag, but it works. Additionally, I appreciate that buying a bag through RedBubble supports the artist who made the design, so even though it’s not officially licensed, you still support the community.

But as I said, there are hundreds of Five Nights at Freddy’s backpacks to choose from, and I’ve done the hard work of finding the best of the best, so you don’t have to!

Foxy Plush Backpack

Now, I love a good plush backpack. There’s something ridiculously comforting about carrying a plush pal on your back, and with this adorable Foxy version, you can have the fear factor with you too! I feel like Foxy is one of the most underrated characters in the FNAF franchise, so this guy had to make it to my list. However, this backpack style is also available in Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie if you aren’t the biggest Foxy fan.

Aside from how adorable it is, you must question the practicality of a bag like this. Sure, it looks the part, but because of the amount of stuffing to make it so plush, there is a limited amount of space for your belongings. So if you’re looking for a cute Five Nights at Freddy’s themed backpack to take to work or school, this one may not be the best fit, although adorable.

Pros:

• True to the character.
• It looks like the plushies from the FNAF games.
• Cost friendly.
• It comes in a variety of characters if Foxy isn’t your favorite.

Cons:

• It doesn’t have a lot of storage space.
• More of an accessory than a practical bag.

Game Over Freddy Backpack

If you’re looking for a more practical backpack design, this Game Over bag from BioWorld may fit the criteria. Its design features Freddy exclusively on a black background, alongside various Game Over logos and Pizza slices which I think pull the design together.

But I can see this bag’s bright design becoming a little overwhelming since all the pockets have the print going in a different direction, or they don’t match up with the next panel. Of course, this would be fine for anything less than a perfectionist!

However, for a little FNaF fan going back to school, I can imagine this bag being a huge hit. I would’ve loved to have a bag like this since it captures the essence of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Additionally, a recognizable print ensures that this bag won’t get lost or go missing! Although it’s more on the expensive end of the scale, I think you’re getting what you’re paying for.

• Padded straps for comfort.
• Interior laptop sleeve and substantial storage space.

Cons:

• The print is a little blurry.
• Slightly more expensive than other options.
• It only features Freddy.
• The design covers the whole bag and looks slightly overwhelming.

This pixel icon, Five Nights at Freddy’s backpack is my favorite from this list. I love everything about its design, from the whole crew being featured to the 8-Bit pizza bringing an extra pop of color. The black background of the bag lets the characters go unnoticed from a distance, but when you look closely, you’ll notice. This bag is perfect for any FNaF fan looking for something sweet yet subtle.

With padded straps and more than enough space to store supplies for either school or work, this budget-friendly bag is my biggest recommendation.

I think the design is adorable yet still has that chill of Fazbear fright, and the silicone emblem towards the top of the bag is a cute addition. The pattern is vibrant without being too distracting, and the bag has two mesh pockets on either side for a little extra storage.

Freddy Face Backpack

When looking into the perfect Five Nights at Freddy’s bag, the first thing I thought I’d come across would be a bag that looked like Freddy. I’m talking ears and all while still being a practical backpack. It took me a while, but this Freddy Face bag is the best of the bunch.

This bag takes the character of Freddy Fazbear and puts it right onto a bag, ready to fill with supplies and head to school or work. My favorite element of the design of this bag are the two 3D ears at the top of the bag; I just think they are adorable.

This bag has good attention to detail without losing the practicality of being a suitable backpack, and it’s relatively affordable for anyone searching for an in-your-face FNaF design.

Pros:

• Recognizable character bag.
• Cute attention to detail with ear applique.

Cons:

• The colors are incredibly bland.
• Facial features have no depth to them.
• No internal sleeves or pockets.
• More on the expensive end of the scale.

Loungefly Mini-Backpack Freddy

Loungefly is known for their character bags, so I would be shocked if they didn’t have a Five Nights at Freddy’s one, given how relevant the franchise is in pop culture. This adorable mini-backpack is perfect for any day trips or small outings where you need a slice of Fazbear with you without lugging around a whole backpack.

I adore several details about this bag, like the little ears and hat, which have a 3D element, and the bow tie on the central pocket. Since everything is made of premium faux leather, this bag is built to last. Additionally, given the brand’s coverage, you’re guaranteed a high-quality product, which I’d expect for a price like that, to be honest!

Although this 3D Foxy backpack might be on the upper end of the expense scale, you’re paying for what you get. The first thing that will stand out about this bag is just how detailed it is, alongside all the 3D additions like the ears and the teeth. So if you are looking for a bag that captures the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise’s scarier side, this is the one for you.

This bag would be perfect for events, mainly as a cosplay prop, but it probably wouldn’t be as practical for work because of the oval shape of the central pocket. I think the level of detail and all the extra bits would also make the bag impractical for school use, but for any events or day trips outside of that – this is a must-have!

Pizza Slice Backpack

Once again, adopting a more traditional backpack design, this character backpack is another one of my favorites. I’d say that this bag, alongside the pixelated icon backpack, are my two favorites. I think the plain background color paired with the simple icons for the design makes the entire pattern pop rather than having the whole front panel in one design.

Plus, you can’t go wrong with having Bonnie on your bag. Like I said about Foxy, I think Bonnie is another incredibly underrated FNaF character. So as soon as I see merch with him on, I’ll do my best to grab it.

I love the arcade-like feel of this bag, and because of its size and design, it would be perfect for both school and work. However, the internal pocket doesn’t have a laptop sleeve – which might be something to consider before purchase.

• Enough space to fit laptops, binders, and books.

This satchel-style bag is very different from the other bags featured on this list, which is why it deserves a place. If you’re looking for a bag to help you stand out while still being practical and featuring a homage to Five Nights at Freddy’s, this may be your best bet. Coming in various colors and with a few different logos, this slightly more expensive bag is worth the money to anyone looking for something a little different.

Depending on which color you settle for, there are a handful of Five Nights at Freddy’s logos that your bag may feature. My favorite has to be the ‘Come Be A Part Of The Show!’ logo since I love how rounded the characters are instead of taking on their hard robotic form.

I also really appreciate the scale of how many colors and variations this bag comes in since I always spend so long trying to decide!

If you’re looking for something more subtle, this Security Breach Arcade Carpet backpack is my absolute favorite. It’s a true ‘if you know, you know’ reference to the FNaF franchise because of its design, which translates beautifully to a backpack.

Rather than having an overwhelming and busy print all over, the subtlety of this design makes the bag stand out without feeling too busy.

Additionally, with the bag being made via RedBubble, you’re supporting a small artist rather than buying a mass-made product. I feel like that gives the bag more of a personal feel, and paired with the design, it’s an incredibly unique product that companies have missed out on.

Pros:

• Cute, subtle design rather than having any of the characters.
• It fits most standard laptops and also has two mesh side pockets.

Cons:

• The product photo is edited, so you don’t know exactly what you’re getting.
• Incredibly expensive.
• Not officially licensed merchandise.

BioWorld Five Nights at Freddy’s Backpack

Much like Loungefly, BioWorld is known for its pop culture merchandise, so it’s a given that they have some incredibly FNaF merch to add to the mix. However, what I love most about this backpack is the circular lunchbox included in the bundle, so it’s almost like you’re getting two for one.

Additionally, the lunchbox has a strap to attach to the top of the bag rather than putting it inside and taking up valuable storage space – making it perfect for school and work.

Because of the brand, this is yet another high-quality, budget-friendly product. It has padded adjustable straps and a cute, bright design on the front panel. This bag covers all bases, no matter your favorite FNaF character from the original game.
