FNAF Funko Snaps Guide

Latest posts by Kara Phillips-Ashman (see all)

If you’ve been a fan of Five Nights at Freddy’s for as long as I have, you will have seen a lot of merchandise come and go. As soon as a game like this becomes widespread, it feels like every toy producer wants to test the waters and see if they can make the next big collector’s item. But Five Nights at Freddy’s has always had one company consistently producing high-quality products, and that’s Funko.

Funko has been producing Five Nights at Freddy’s merchandise since they acquired the license in 2015 – and let’s be honest, they have never let us down. When it comes to pop culture-themed collectibles, Funko is the one-stop shop. From Funko Pop figures to plushies, they’ve always produced some of the best merchandise the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise has seen.

But for younger Five Nights at Freddy’s fans, having all these figures and collector’s items isn’t always good news. When you’re young, you want something you can play with, and as much as I love Funko, it’s hard to play with many of their products. So when Funko Snaps were announced, it was hard for my inner child not to be thrilled. Finally, we have a Five Nights at Freddy’s toy designed for play, which is also an incredibly unique design we haven’t experienced before.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is the first series to receive a collection of Funko Snap figures, so it’s setting the base for something potentially massive. Because of this, there is a lot of concern about whether the product will be good – since there’s nothing to base it on. But if you’re interested in bringing home your own FNAF Funko Snaps, this is the guide for you.

What Are Funko Snaps?

Unlike other Five Nights at Freddy’s figures you may find, Funko Snaps allow us to ‘play our way.’ Rather than just having a solid plastic figure, these toys let us mix and match interchangeable faceplates and body parts to our hearts’ content.

Each Funko Snap comes with one head, two faces, one torso, one bottom, and an accessory. Although each figure comes with all the ‘correct’ pieces, it can be swapped with other Funko snap pieces alongside the character-specific accessories. As a bit of a perfectionist, I wouldn’t want to play mix-and-match, but I can imagine younger FNaF fans would love to create their own animatronic horror, which is what Funko Snaps is all about.

Funko Snaps were initially announced in August 2022 and have been scheduled to hit shelves in late 2022 or early 2023. However, due to Funko being recognized as a high-quality manufacturer of FNaF merch, fans have anticipated the release of these figures since the announcement.

I think the premise of Funko Snaps is excellent because of how varied some of the accessories and faceplates are, alongside the ability to customize your experience with the toy. For example, each character comes with one faceplate showing a neutral expression, as though you’ve just seen them in-game for the first time.

But their secondary faceplate adopts a more honest representation of the character. They appear angry, with teeth bared, and perfectly capture the essence of Five Nights at Freddy’s without being scary enough for children to avoid playing with them.

Though these toys still maintain the same haunting, vacant Five Nights at Freddy’s expression you’d want from a horror game toy. Although these figures are more fun than others, it doesn’t make them any less unsettling. When a faceplate is removed, the underside features the same endoskeleton we are used to seeing in the game, which is a detail I wasn’t expecting to see. But I don’t know why I expected anything less, mainly because of how much detail I’ve seen other Funko products host.

Where Can I Buy Funko Snaps?

Funko Snaps can be bought individually or in packs of two. Additionally, you can buy figures alongside a playset – which I think looks incredible on display. Only a few retailers are currently listed as stocking every item in the Funko Snaps collection, but I’d imagine the more the series grows, the more stores will begin to stock.

Here’s a list of where you can pre-order and buy Five Nights at Freddy’s Funko Snaps:

  • Amazon
  • Zavvi
  • GameStop

Many retailers are currently in the pre-order stage of selling Funko Snaps, so it’s worth keeping an eye out on places like Hot Topic, Walmart, and Target when the collection is released in November. But be warned, I think these toys will fly off shelves. Given how popular the majority of Funko’s toy releases are, I think Funko Snaps will have the same reception, so having the option to pre-order is excellent for any fan who doesn’t want to miss out.

Here is a list of the standard prices for Funko Snaps:

  • Individual figures – $8.99
  • Freddy & Springtrap 2pck – $16.99
  • Toy Bonnie & Circus Baby 2pck – $16.99
  • Storage Room Playset & Chica Snap – $34.99
  • Birthday Room Playset & Freddy Snap – $34.99

If you miss the pre-order period and can’t find them in-store, I can guarantee these figures will eventually end up online. However, much like a lot of Five Nights at Freddy’s merchandise, I can see these figures becoming limited collector’s items, meaning scalpers will increase the price as the product ages.

This price increase will only double if Funko decides that Snaps aren’t the way forward. These charming, unique figures will become a one-of-a-kind Funko product, and with Five Nights at Freddy’s being such a renowned franchise, everyone will want a piece. I recommend ordering as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, or you’ll undoubtedly pay the price later down the line!

Which Characters Have a Funko Snap Figure?

As I’ve mentioned, the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is the first collection to receive a series of Funko Snaps. So right now, there are only a few figures within the collection. But with the number of characters within the FNaF franchise, I’d be surprised if this was the only released series.

Here’s a list of every Five Nights at Freddy’s character that have a Funko Snap, and the accessory they come with:

  • Springtrap – a Springtrap hand puppet
  • Freddy Fazbear – a microphone
  • Bonnie – a pizza-style banjo
  • Toy Bonnie – an electric guitar
  • Circus Baby – a microphone
  • Foxy – an ‘It’s Me!’ sign
  • Chica – her cupcake
  • Golden Freddy – the same microphone as Freddy Fazbear

The selection of characters currently available may be a little too limited for any wild FNaF fan. Still, it’s important to remember that Funko is currently testing the waters with this series of Snap figurines. Depending on the release’s popularity, I’d imagine more series’ would follow if it’s something we react well to.

If these toys become as popular as Funko Pop figures, I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t release more in the future.

I’d love to see a Balloon Boy Funko Snap, as I think his character would perfectly suit the style, though the same can be said for the majority of the nightmare animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy’s 4. With one faceplate being the animatronics neutral expression, it would be cool to have the second faceplate as the horrifying expression. Plus, I’d love to see the Balloons! Sign as his accessory.

I think Springtrap and Circus Baby are the best figures out of the current selection. We’ve seen so much merchandise for the main animatronics in the game’s timeline, so seeing two faces we wouldn’t usually find merchandise for is excellent. Funko is fantastic at giving the spotlight to more underrated characters, especially with their Mystery Mini series and even the occasional Funko Pop.

So if there is a future for Funko snaps, I would love to see some more understated Five Nights at Freddy’s characters get their time to shine.

Funko Snap Playsets

As I mentioned earlier, Funko Snaps offer more than just the figure. Unlike things like Funko Pops and a huge variety of alternative Five Nights at Freddy’s figures, Funko Snaps are designed to be played with, which is assisted by the release of accompanying playsets.

Having a playset with a figure encourages the toy to be used rather than just sitting on display. However, if you are more of a collector like me, these playsets look just as good on display too.

There are currently two playsets available for purchase, one showcasing a party room from the pizza place and one showcasing the more creepy side of the franchise, an endoskeleton storage room. Like the figures, Funko Snap playsets are designed to connect to one another.

The party room playset is my favorite and can be bought in a set alongside the Golden Freddy figure. I think these two items go perfectly together, rather than just having the standard Freddy Fazbear figure. The party room itself looks like it’s been stripped from one of the many Freddy Fazbear pizza places we have seen during our time with the games.

The party room playset also comes with a few accessories, such as two tables covered in party hats and a few chairs for the unsuspecting children to sit back and enjoy the show. With this set, your little ones can recreate their own bite of 87. This playset also has a built-in stage so Freddy can strut his stuff in his natural habitat.

However, if you wanted something a little darker, the Chica Funko Snap is available alongside an endoskeleton storage facility. This playset features walls covered with endoskeleton parts and feels like an unusual playset to have compared to the party room. The storage facility isn’t a location we frequently visit within the FNaF timeline, so it seems a bit out of place.

Much like the party room, the storage facility playset also comes with an array of accessories. This set comes with two counters, a ‘box of parts,’ and an endoskeleton skull, which is slightly unsettling to look at for too long.

The endoskeleton skulls on the room’s walls have 3D eyes, so you can conveniently hold the spare faceplates of each character, should you have a few not in use. I particularly love this feature, as I know as soon as they’re out of the box, any small parts are bound to go missing.

I’d love to see a playset themed around the office from the first Five Nights at Freddy’s title should more be released in the future. The accessories could be subtle nods to the first game, such as the phone, a flashlight, and the desk.

Additionally, playsets could be released to represent the central location of each Five Nights at Freddy’s game, like the child’s bedroom in FNaF 4, Ballora or Circus Baby’s room in Sister Location, and the central plaza in Security Breach.

FAQs

Question: Can I buy the Toy Bonnie Funko snap separately?

Answer: Unfortunately, the Toy Bonnie Funko Snap will only be available for purchase alongside Circus Baby in a dual pack. The company hasn’t explained why these characters are available together, but I think due to the fact they aren’t the most popular in the franchise. The same can be said for the Sppringtrap and Freddy set.

While Golden Freddy comes with the stage, Freddy Fazbear comes in a pack with Springtrap. It seems like Foxy, and standard Bonnie are the only characters to be sold individually. If the release goes well, I’d imagine more characters will become readily available individually rather than in a set.

Question: Will there be Security Breach Funko Snaps?

Answer: Funko hasn’t announced any future releases for the Snap series. The characters listed in this guide are the only Funko snaps to exist, so it’s hard to say whether or not there will be Security Breach-themed Snaps in the future. I’d love to see a daycare attendant snap, especially with the interchangeable faceplate.

Additionally, I think a Glamrock release would suit the style of these figures, and a Security Breach arcade-style playset would go down well!

Question: When do Funko Snaps release?

Answer: Funko Snaps is scheduled to release in late 2022, following their announcement in August. They are currently available for pre-order on Amazon, Zavvi, and GameStop. These locations state that the product is scheduled for a late 2022 or early 2023 release.

When they have finally released, I’d imagine these charming little figures will become available in most retailers, especially where Five Nights at Freddy’s merchandise is already for sale.

FNAF Funko Snaps: Summary

I think Funko Snaps have a lot of potential to become the next big thing in Five Nights at Freddy’s merchandise. There are a lot of characters to bring to life and several locations that would make fabulous playsets. I just hope the release is popular enough to continue its production!

I love that Funko is releasing toys that can be played with rather than just continuing to release collectible items. As much as I love collecting, I know a lot of younger Five Nights at Freddy’s fans would much rather get their hands on some playsets and figures. Luckily, Funko has listened to its customers and created these toys at the right time.
