FNAF Rockstar Freddy Guide

Latest posts by Fredrick Ochami (see all)

One of the major things I love about Five Nights at Freddy’s is how the main animatronics have counterparts that add new dimensions. In this case, I’m talking about Rockstar Freddy. He is among the lesser-known counterparts of the original Freddy Fazbear—at least, compared to the flashy Glamrock Freddy or the terror-inducing Nightmare Freddy.

Being so understated makes Rockstar Freddy an underdog in my book and one who deserves more attention. That’s why this guide exists: to shed light on this animatronic, from how he looks to how to beat him. So without further ado, let’s start with some quick info on Rockstar Freddy.

Who Is Rockstar Freddy?

  • He is a Freddy Fazbear counterpart
  • He first appears in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator as a purchasable animatronic
  • Kai Skrotzki, who voices animals like puppies and parrots, voiced Rockstar Freddy

All right, now you know a bit about Rockstar Freddy. Before we get to the nitty-gritty, here are the cliff notes of the underrated animatronic.

Bottom Line Up Front

Rockstar Freddy is a Rockstar Animatronic whose chief appearance is in Ultimate Custom Night. Even though he’s a homicidal character like most animatronics, he rewards you with power-ups after you experience a jump scare.

Rockstar Freddy’s Appearance

He doesn’t look drastically different from classic Freddy, unlike Glamrock Freddy or other counterparts. They have the same brown color with a bowtie and top hat.

However, you’ll notice that Rockstar Freddy’s hat and bowtie are purple, not black like the original. In addition, his ears are round, his lower jaw only connects to the head through metal rods, his cheeks are rosy-red along with his kneecaps, and his muzzle is tan.

You’ll see a golden star on the animatronic’s chest, similar to the other Rockstar Animatronics. The microphone he holds is also purple, like his hat and bowtie.

In Ultimate Custom Night, a coin slot lies under the animatronic’s gold star.

Rockstar Freddy Lore

It sucks, but Rockstar Freddy doesn’t have much lore because he isn’t canon and doesn’t even appear in Pizzeria Simulator until you buy him. As a result, none of the Rockstar Animatronics have a part to play in the game’s lore. I found this aspect strange since Rockstar Freddy is the official mascot of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place.

However, I inferred that because Rockstar Freddy isn’t part of the franchise lore, he isn’t possessed by one of William Afton’s child victims. Instead, being a homicidal animatronic is most likely part of his programming. If you’d like to see how Rockstar Freddy would be portrayed in a story, there exists plenty of fanfiction featuring the character. However, not all the stories you find about him online are savory or appropriate for all audiences.

I recommend Tomfoolery at Freddy’s, a lighthearted take on the franchise. Rockstar Freddy is as annoying as you’d imagine if you’ve faced him in Ultimate Custom Night. Feel free to search for other stories to see what floats your boat.

Appearances

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator

This is Rockstar Freddy’s first appearance in the franchise. However, like the other Rockstar Animatronics, you must unlock him first. In addition, the game classifies him as a heavy animatronic that’s still in good condition, so he is among the pricier animatronics you can unlock for $2,000.

The animatronic doesn’t do much in this game, in any case. Instead of hunting you down to give you a fatal jump scare, Rockstar Freddy’s role is purely cosmetic. You can unlock the “Rockstars Assemble!” badge by buying all the Rockstar Animatronics and placing them on stages.

Ultimate Custom Night

This is the game where Rockstar Freddy finally becomes an enemy we can face. You can select him in the main menu along with the other animatronics. He stands inside your Office and randomly switches himself on during the night. If you raise the difficulty level, the animatronic will activate more often.

When active, Rockstar Freddy will ask you for five Faz-Coins. You’d better pay up fast when he asks because he will become hostile and attack, ending your playthrough if you don’t.

However, paying isn’t your only option to avoid an abrupt death. You can use the heater to trick Rockstar Freddy into thinking you’ve paid. However, the caveat to this method is that it puts you in further danger, depending on the animatronics you’ve chosen to face.

Other animatronics affected by the heater will attack you more often, like Jack-O-Chica, Lefty, Freddy Fazbear, and Phantom Freddy. If you pay Rockstar Freddy and survive the night, you’ll realize he’s not bad. After all, he will reward you with power-ups for surviving.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

Rockstar Freddy’s appearance in this game is hardly worth mentioning because his role is minor; he is an Easter Egg.

Counterparts

Freddy Fazbear

Appearances: FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, Ultimate Custom Night, FNAF: Help Wanted, FNAF AR: Special Delivery

He is the original Freddy and the title character of the franchise. Freddy Fazbear is the mascot and head entertainer at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. However, he goes against his original programming of entertaining children when he becomes possessed by Gabriel, a victim of William Afton.

Through Freddy, Gabriel tries to get revenge for his murder. Unfortunately, he confuses the night security guards for William Afton, and that’s why he attacks you in FNAF 1 and 2. Freddy Fazbear appears most similar to Rockstar Freddy in FNAF 1. However, in FNAF 2, he has visible damage to his body. You can see significant tears on his legs and arms, wires connecting his joints, and a filthy body.

Shamrock Freddy

Shamrock Freddy

Appearances: FNAF AR: Special Delivery

This is Freddy but in an Irish, St. Patrick’s Day-inspired theme. He is clove green in color, has lime green irises, a dark green bowtie, and a gold beaded necklace.

My favorite part of this counterpart is the green hat, which makes Freddy resemble a leprechaun. Shamrock Freddy is little more than a reskin, but he looks fantastic.

Firework Freddy

Appearances: FNAF AR: Special Delivery

Like Shamrock Freddy, Firework Freddy is a reskin that celebrates an occasion. In this case, it’s the U.S. Independence Day on the 4th of July.

Firework Freddy wears a blue tank top with white stars, a red bowtie, white sunglasses with blue lenses, a red-and-white striped top hat, and torn white shorts. I love that he’s holding a large ignited firecracker with matching colors.

Glamrock Freddy

Glamrock Freddy

Appearances: FNAF: Security Breach, FNAF AR: Special Delivery

This is my favorite Rockstar Freddy counterpart. Glamrock Freddy is huge, flashy, and a friend. With an 80s punk aesthetic, his body is primarily orange with shades of red and yellow. In addition, he has a black bowtie, a black top hat with a blue stripe, a spiked bracelet on each wrist, red-and-blue face paint, and red shoulder pads. His microphone also comes with a long, black stand.

Glamrock Freddy appears in FNAF: Security Breach and is a faithful animatronic. He protects Gregory from the sinister Vanny and the other obstacles in Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex by allowing the boy to hide inside his stomach.

While Glamrock Freddy can still become hostile if he runs out of power or Gregory makes an error while upgrading him, the animatronic’s affinity is to be friendly and protect his human friend.

Toy Freddy

Appearances: FNAF 2, Ultimate Custom Night, FNAF: Help Wanted, FNAF AR: Special Delivery

Even though Freddy Fazbear didn’t look intimidating, Fazbear Entertainment redesigned him to look more child-friendly. He has red cheeks, black whisker spots, a black top hat with a red stripe, a black bowtie with two buttons below it, and a broader head to make him appear childlike.

Fazbear Entertainment equipped him with facial recognition software so he wouldn’t go ballistic and start attacking kids. This works during the day as he entertains kids with no incidents. At night, however, he wanders the pizzeria like the original Freddy Fazbear. He even has a similar jump scare.

Nightmare Freddy

Appearances: FNAF 4, Ultimate Custom Night, Help Wanted (Curse of Dreadbear DLC), FNAF AR: Special Delivery

Freddy’s nightmare form is the stuff of nightmares. He has sharpened claws and teeth with an extra row of razor-sharp teeth in his mouth. His skin is torn and patchy in most places, exposing his wires and endoskeleton. His eyes glow a terrifying yellow—which makes encountering him in the dark a frightening experience—and three Nightmare Freddles hang around his torso.

Nightmare Freddy’s personality is as frightening as his looks. He uses the Nightmare Freddles to torment you before making his appearance.

Rockstar Animatronics

Rockstar Animatronics

Appearances: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, Ultimate Custom Night

As Rockstar Freddy is a Rockstar Animatronic, I naturally have to mention the other Rockstar Animatronics. They include:

  • Rockstar Bonnie
  • Rockstar Chica
  • Rockstar Foxy
  • Lefty

Like Rockstar Freddy, they only have an active role in Ultimate Custom Night. Only Rockstar Freddy stays in your Office the whole night, however. Rockstar Bonnie will occasionally wander into the Office looking for his guitar. To avoid a jump scare, find his guitar on the camera and quickly double-click on it.

Rockstar Chica stands outside your Office, biding her time. She won’t leave even if you close the doors, and you can’t leave the doors closed the whole night. The only way to force Rockstar Chica to go is to double-click on the “Wet Floor” sign and place it in front of the door next to her. Since she doesn’t want to slip and fall, she will go away.

Rockstar Foxy is a tricky one. His parrot will fly across the Office. If you click it, Rockstar Foxy appears. If you’re lucky, he will give you a much-needed boost like 10 Faz-Coins or temporarily soundproofing the Office. If you’re not lucky, a jump scare awaits.

Funtime Freddy

Appearances: FNAF: Sister Location, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, FNAF: Help Wanted, FNAF AR: Special Delivery

Funtime Freddy is a flashy-looking animatronic. Instead of Rockstar Freddy’s brown, he is white with shades of pink. He has blue eyes, a black top hat with a purple stripe, humanoid teeth, a black bowtie, and a purple microphone.

On his hand, you’ll see a hand puppet called Bon-Bon. He is blue with lighter blue accents, has red cheeks, wears a red bowtie, and has a single black button below the bowtie. William Afton made Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon attack children on his behalf.

FAQs

Question: Who Is Rockstar Freddy in Five Nights at Freddy’s?

Answer: Rockstar Freddy is an animatronic who appears in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator and Ultimate Custom Night. He resembles Freddy Fazbear but with slight differences that match the other Rockstar Animatronics. For example, in Ultimate Custom Night, he asks you to insert five Faz-Coins in his coin slot. Failing to insert the coins will result in a jump scare.

Question: What Does Rockstar Freddy Do?

Answer: In Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, Rockstar Freddy is just a trophy. However, he becomes active in Ultimate Custom Night. In the latter game, Rockstar Freddy spends the whole night inside your Office. Depending on the difficulty, he will occasionally wake up and ask for five Faz-Coins. Your only choices to avoid a jump scare are paying him or using the heater to trick him into thinking you’ve paid.

Question: Should My 12-Year-Old Play Five Nights at Freddy’s?

Answer: Five Nights at Freddy’s has an age rating of 12+, so your 12-year-old will be fine playing it. The game, however, has plenty of jump scares and frightening moments, so it might not be the best choice if they scare easily. To learn more, you can view our FNAF Parent’s Guide.

FNAF Rockstar Freddy: Conclusion

Rockstar Freddy is an intriguing animatronic unlike any other. His tendency to ask for Faz-Coins makes this animatronic one you should line up in your Ultimate Custom Night playthrough because no other animatronic does the same.

Even though he doesn’t have lore and doesn’t appear in many FNAF games, he is still among my favorite animatronics.

If you’re looking for a fresh challenge that won’t annoy you like Balloon Boy but isn’t as tough as Nightmarionne, Rockstar Freddy is my recommendation. Hopefully, we’ll see more of him in future FNAF games.
